This session will provide an overview of the building code requirements for the curtain wall products that are nonstructural components of building, and the design-flow process for the appropriate selection of curtain wall products, testing needed to validate curtain wall seismic performances, and how to incorporate seismic / building movement requirements in the project specifications. Curtain wall products have a lot of variety based on the product performance, and methods of construction and their installation. Suitable selection of curtain wall to meet the seismic and building movement requirements are critical to avoid human loss and damages to the building. Selecting tested and validated curtain wall products with seismic performance will minimize risk of losses from seismic activities.
